2. How does the Mountain flight look like?

Mountain flights are known as STOL flights ( Short Take-Off & Landing ) normally used for commuting to short distances and for Everest Mountain flight. Buddha airlines operate SAAB -340 and Dornier 228 Aircraft. It has a seating capacity of 16 members and a stewardess. Two pilots in the cockpit. The Aircraft has large windows for viewing.

Note There is no restroom as it is used for short distances and the duration of the flight is just  60-minutes.

3.Tips for Choosing a seat while booking your Mountain flitipsght?

  1. Ask for a seat either at the very front or at the very back so you get less of the wing in your view. Wings will distract the view and while talking photos
  2. If you go with your friend sit on either side so that you can take photos and videos on both sides
  3. If you are flying alone, ask the stewardess to take a photo of you. People in Nepal are friendly.
  4. Don't forget to take a selfie in front of Aircraft after landing with a certificate of Completion

4.Everest Mountain flight Experience?

From the moment the flight takes off and rises up going towards East the views become astounding. First over Kathmandu, with sights of the white Boudhanath Stupa in the middle of the city Then, you need not have to wait long as it takes less than 10 minutes to see the Himalayas. These mighty mountains towered over the thick clouds and as you get closer you see more and even taller peaks. For the first half of the flight, the left side of the plane will get mountain views and then the right side of the plane will get their mountain views on the way back. Gaurishankar Peak Altitude 7235

Gauri-Shankar was once thought to be the highest mountain in the world. Before  George Everest brought  Everest into the limelight. This peak of 7134m, in what is known as the Rolwaling Himal chain, is actually 1714m lower than Everest/Chomolongma/ Sagarmatha. It lies on the border between Nepal’s Dolakha District.

The mountain consists of two peaks, Gauri and Shankar, less than two kilometers apart. Shankar is the main peak, Gauri (7010m) the secondary peak. The ridge that connects them is above 6500m at its lowest. The two peaks resemble a seated couple and have been given the names of the Hindu divinity Shiva, or Shankar, and his consort Parvati, or Gauri. The peak is situated behind Melungtse 7134 m. The peak looks amazing during sunrise with a golden glow.

Melungtse Peak  Altitude 7134 m

Melungtse is the Highest peak in the Rolwaling Valley of Himalayas. The peak has a long summit ridge capped by the east summit and the west summit, also known as Melungtse II, 7,023m.To the southwest, across the Menlung Chu, lies Gaurishankar peak. The mountain's steep faces make it more difficult than its elevation would suggest.

Shisha Pangma  Peak Altitude 8027 m

The Tibetan name for the mountain is Xixapangma. Its name literally translates to "The mountain overlooking the grassy plains". it the lowest of worlds 8000 m  peaks, the world’s 14th highest peak It is located south-central part of Tibet about 5 km from Nepal Himalayas. It is the highest peak in the Langtang Himal. The peak is characterized by its long, steep, craggy southern face rising over 2000m, making it an imposing sight to all would-be climbers.

Dorje Lakpa Peak Altitude 6966 m

Dorje Lhakpa is a mountain in the Langtang Himal area in Nepal. Visible also from Kathmandu valley it has an elegant pyramid-shaped figure. This mountain is located at the solid mass of Jugal Himal in Nepal, south of Mt. Shishapangma -Tibet.It is one of the most climbed peaks in the Lantang region of Nepal Himalaya.

Cho Oyu Peak Altitude 8201 m

Cho Oyu is the sixth-highest mountain in the world at 8,188 meters above sea level. Cho Oyu means "Turquoise Goddess" in Tibetan. The mountain is the westernmost major peak of the Khumbu sub-section of the Mahalangur Himalaya 20 km west of Mount Everest. This is con­sid­ered the best intro­duc­to­ry peak for those aspir­ing to 8000-meter climbs such as Everest.

Gyachung Kang Peak Altitude  7952 m

Gyachung Kang is a mountain in the Mahalangur Himal section of the Himalayas and is the highest peak between Cho Oyu (8,201 m) and Mount Everest. (8,848 ) It lies on the border between Nepal and China. With the elevation of 26,089 feet, the mountain is considered to be the 15th highest peak in the world. Gyachung Kang is a part of the massif of the Himalayas called the Mahalangur Himal.

It is far less well-known than the lowest of the eight-thousanders, which are only about 100 m (328 ft) higher. The peak's lack of significant prominence (700 m) also contributes to its relative obscurity.

Karyolung Peak Altitude 6511

Karyolung Expedition 6530m is located in the Rolwaling area of  Nepal Himalayas. For those who looking 6500m to 7000m peak in Nepal Himalaya. Karyolung Peak is located at Solukhumbu district in Nepal. To the northwest two of the highest summits in the Rolwaling valley rise namely Number and Khatang, the first ascent was made in 1982 by a Joint expedition  of Japanese and Nepali team via NE face rising straight out of the uninhabited Lumdung Valley.In the later years, a winter summit climb on the same route was done.

Ganesh Himal Altitude 7422 m

Ganesh Himāl is a sub-range of the Himalayas located mostly in north-central Nepal, but some peaks lie on the border with Tibet. Ganesh Himal; nestled on the northwest of Kathmandu valley on a few hours distance, on Manaslu conservation area; Ganesh Himal is named after the celestial elephant-headed Hindu God Lord Ganesh - The remover of Obstacles. The Ganesh Range Peaks (Ganesh I, Ganesh II, Ganesh III, Ganesh IV)  respectively.

Pumori Peak Altitude 6171 m

Pumori is a mountain on the Nepal-Tibet border in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas. Pumori lies just eight kilometers west of Mount Everest. Pumori, meaning "the Mountain Daughter" in Sherpa language, was named by George Mallory. "Pumo" means young girl or daughter and "Ri" means mountain in Sherpa language.

The Peak can be viewed from close quarters during your Visit to Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar - Black Rock the highest point. The adjoining peaks to Pumori are Khangri Shar 6792 m, Lingtren 6749, and Khumbutse 6636 sharing the same ridge.

Mount Everest Altitude 8840 m

         Mount Everest is located on the border between Tibet and Nepal in the Himalayas in Asia Everest is situated in the Mahalangur Range on the Tibetan Plateau known as Qing Zang Gaoyuan. The summit is directly between Tibet and Nepal. The Mahalangur Range is home to four of the earth's six highest peaks namely
  • Mount Everest
  • Lhotse
  • Makalu
  • Cho Oyu
       Mount Everest is tallest among them. On the Nepal side, Mount Everest is located in the Sagarmatha National Park in the Solukhumbu District. On the Tibetan side, Mount Everest is located in Tingri County in the Xigaze area, which China considers being an autonomous region and part of the People's Republic of China until today.
Nepalese worship  Mountain as Sagarmatha and The Tibetan name for Everest is Chomolungma which means "Holy Mother."The mountain is named for Sir George Everest, the Welsh Surveyor General of India at the time. In 1865 it was renamed from " Peak XV " to " Everest " in honor of Sir George Everest. It is pronounced as Eve Rest. !
Even though indigenous people and Sherpas knew about the peak. It came into limelight and drew the attention of westerners, across the globe after the successful summit in 1953 by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Sherpa. Since then Everest became a dream Mountain and an Icon of pride for Mountaineers. The Everest Peak did not get Rest from the Explorers.
       In the later year's several Successful summits, Several false claims, Controversies, and several deaths followed in an attempt to conquer it. Have discussed a few facts about Everest that have been discussed below for your information.
  • The first attempt was in 1921 by a British expedition from the north (Tibet) side
  • The first summit was on May 29, 1953, by Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa from Nepal. They climbed from the south side on a British expedition lead by Colonel John Hunt.
  • The first north side summit was on May 25, 1960, by Nawang Gombu (Tibetan) and Chinese climbers Chu Yin-Hau and Wang Fu-zhou
  • The youngest person to summit was American Jordan Romero, age 13 years 11 months, on May 23, 2010, from the north side.
  • The oldest person to summit was Japanese Miura Yiuchiro, age 80 on May 23, 2013
  • The first climbers to summit Everest without bottled oxygen were Italian Reinhold Messner with Peter Habler in 1978
  • Reinhold Messner is the only person to have truly summited Everest solo and without supplemental oxygen. He did it in 1980 from the Tibet side via the Great Couloir
  • First Indian Women Mountaineer Bachendri Pal climbed successfully in the year 1984
  • Indian Mountaineer Love Raj Dharasaktu has summited Everest 7 times till 2018.

Lhotse Peak Altitude 8516

Lhotse is the fourth highest mountain in the world at 8,516 meters, after Mount Everest, K2, and Kangchenjunga. Part of the Everest massif, Lhotse is connected to the latter peak via the South Col. Lhotse means “South Peak” in Tibetan.language.The western flank of Lhotse is known as the Lhotse Face. 

Its long east-west crest is located immediately south of Mount Everest, and the summits of the two mountains are connected by the South Col, a vertical ridge that never drops below 8,000m. Lhotse has three summits: Lhotse Main 8516m, Lhotse Shar 8383m, and Lhotse Middle or East 8413m.

Lhotse Main was first climbed in 1956 by Ernst Reiss and Fritz Luchsinger who were part of a Swiss expedition. Lhotse Shar was first climbed on December 5, 1979 by Sepp Mayerl and Rolf Walter by taking the SE-ridge. It was not until 2001 that Lhotse Middle was conquered by the Russian Expedition

In 1990 Tomo Cesen said that he climbed the wall via the Yugoslavian route.  The climb caused much controversy because many climbers didn't believe that the wall, which was unclimbed by so many good climbers, was by climbed by a single person.  He later changed his mind claiming that he didn't reach the top but the summit ridge.  However, public opinion is that he reached only about 7000 meters.

The south face was finally climbed in 1990 by the Russian expedition after a few months after Cesen's climb.  They describe the wall as impossible to be climbed by a single person

Makalu Peak Altitude 8485 m

Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world at 8,485 meters. It is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas 19 km southeast of Mount Everest. Makalu is actually a twin peak. Makalu is an isolated peak whose shape is a four-sided pyramid. The subsidiary peak rising just north of the main summit connected by a saddle is called Chomolonzo (25,650 ft.) It is interesting to note that the summit ridge is the demarcation point indicating the border between Nepal on the Southern side and Tibet to the North. The name of the mountain was probably taken from the Sanskrit word Maha-Kala, which means Big Black and is a by-name of Shiva - one of the most important gods of Hinduism.

It was not attempted till  Everest.summit In 1954 First attempts of ascents: American mountaineers led by W. Seyra climbed up to 7100 m via the Southern ridge. Britain mountaineers reached 6 500 m in the direction to the North col. French mountaineers reached the North-East summit of Makalu 7600 m.

 5. What should you keep in mind while taking pictures?

  1. Carry a good camera with spare batteries.No charging facility available in flight.
  2. Look for the glare of the sun, as it is sunrise time. 
  3. There will be the banking of flight, either side. So sit firmly on the seat. Don't stand in the Aisle.
  4. Wings may hinder the view, so utilize space wisely.
  5. Don't forget to carry telephoto lenses to take pictures of distant peaks 

6.About Cancellation and refund?

  1. Flying of Aircraft depends purely on weather conditions in the Mountainous regions
  2. In some instances, flight doesn't operate after issuing a boarding pass. In such instances, the amount will be refunded by the operator without any deduction

7. Is the trip really worthwhile?

It is very likely that a dream to climb to the top of Mt. Everest in the near future will remain a dream throughout life. Unless you are hell-bent to do it climb or trek up to Everest Base Camp.

You feel elated and convinced as you were able to fly towards Everest and appreciate its beauty and surrounding Himalayan peaks from close quarters. It is an out of the world and once-in-a-lifetime experience. So yes, I think it is definitely worth it!
