A gliding lizard called draco !
A reptile resembling a chameleon is found in the tropical forests of Western ghats. Being territorial and arboreal in beahaviour is which sets this species apart from other reptiles and creates curiosity to know about it. The amazing and unique thing is its flight and not touching ground. By gliding behaviour it is often referred to as gliding dragon. !

They Soar like a dragon As I said, they move from one tree to another by using a membrane that extends from their rib cage to the hind limbs. Recent researches have given more insights on the their gliding behavior, before it was assumed that the membrane opens automatically when they prepare themselves to glide, but the recent study says the lizards reach back with their arms, grab the membranes and spread them all the way forward, they also use a small set of neck flaps to serve as a sort of rotor, stabilizing them during their flight. When they are about to land, the lizards would let go of the unfurled membrane to rest, flat against the body. In a single leap they can cover a distance of 100 feet with ease.It is a fast and efficient way to move through jungle.
Territorial Behaviour
The resident males dont like to share, space with visitors.Trespassers wont be tolerated and warn them with flag. They are even prepared to get into a fight.
Unique Behavior
By adopting the capacity for flight, dracos have taken the ground out of their equation. Hence they mark their territory with a set of trees, and remain arboreal, since males are highly territorial, they claim 3 – 4 trees as their own and chase the rivals out of it. Normally Dracos usually avoid going to the ground, females still must descend to deposit eggs. The lizard uses her pointed snout to create a small hole in the ground, where she lays eggs and then covers the hole with dirt. She remains on the ground for about 24 hours, guarding the nest, and then returns to the trees and leaves the eggs to their fate. Their diet mainly depends on Ants and Termites. Though i waited for hours to take a photo of in flight.
My efforts did not pay any desired fruit of photgrahing them in flight. I retreated without any regrets instead I was overwhelmed & rejunevated to have spent precious time with these cute little dragons during stay. I decided to try my luck again next time !
