Doors of Varanasi

Doors and Windows as usual drew my attention during casual walk.in the bylanes of Banaras. Every time made me stand, stare it with awe, admire it !. Reasons were many. Be it Architecture - Design - Color.Structure & doors  !

Elaborate drawings with Lord Ganesh,Animals, Birds, Lord Shiva,Stories from Various epics being a common feature of doors in the heartbeat of Hindu civilisation in Varanasi.

During every turn i was curious and waiting for new. Every mural has a story to tell.Do u agree.............?

Any reason for doors without locks ?

Doors with Windows above ?. What a idea sirji

Most of these old doors were locked or without lock.I wondered who owned these homes and left with many unanswered questions.

About culture & Customs

One House with Multiple Doors & Windows

Locked doors

When i was going around alleys, i found walls of houses not being plastered.I felt why is it so ?

I asked myself. Is it for cost cutting,in saving mortar or keeping air pores for circulation.

If its a cost cutting, why landlords spend money on decorating houses.Painting with riot of colors.

Does any one know, how old is Ramayana & Mahabarata ?

Murals, or wall paintings, are one of the oldest forms of visual art known to humans. More than 30,000 years ago, humans painted images on the walls of caves and other natural surfaces. More recently, murals were a popular art form throughout the Roman Empire and in Renaissance Italy.

Do u agree ?

If you just keep doing the same thing for the rest of your life nothing new is going to come into your life and change it

A traditional door with a more modern one in the above frame, each has its own charm.

Though their were many doors. This one was closer to my heart - Favourite of all
