Tranquebar : A Peek into artistic doorways of erstwhile danish town.
Tharangambadi historically known as Tranquebar— is a quaint coastal heritage town along the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. Meaning "place of the singing waves" in Tamil dialect, it is best remembered as a former Danish colony ("Trankebar") established in 1620, till today the town has retained its old world charm. After the tsunami , withstanding the vagaries of nature tsunami, few say history and while historical structures continue gradual restoration. The town has its own beauty and it lies in the onlooker ! Come lets visit Tharangambadi.. !!!

Since I always get excited by doors and windows, during my travel especially in the older sections of a town, or be it a city. If the place has a heritage touch then one need to keep both eyes wide open and observe keenly !

Here is a photo blog of my recent travel.............
I walk through the bylanes of danish town, parallel to the sea coast with waves for company. With endless views. The beach at Tranquebar aptly referred to as the Land of Singing Waves. The imposing structures dating back to 13 century to 18 th century draw my attention.
The Danes stayed here nearly for 3 centuries, their contributions can be seen even today in the form of structures which are left behind. Some are still intact and few are crumbling !
