Seelu Kallu - An elegant tranquil hillock
Seelu Kallu is one of the off-beaten beautiful tranquil hillocks which surely seals the hallmark in Trekker’s reminiscence with its own stylishness. This is also a shelter for many wild animals and hence trekkers should be careful while summiting this hillock.

There will always be an excitement to explore unknown and primeval places. My interest towards exploring uncharted places, warranted me to plan this hike. I have insisted Rakesh to accompany me to explore one such hillock – Seelu Kallu...! This is one of the primeval hillocks which will impress the backpackers.
This time Yashas joined us along with Rakesh and Darshan. Even though they are localities, they never ventured to hike Seelu Kallu.
Packing snacks, we started our journey to reach the base of the hill. None of us were know the way and found no beaten trail. We guessed ourselves and decided to take the route which seems to be easy. But this proved to be wrong later. Negotiating the boulders, we started hiking. The cool breeze and lovely weather braced our hike to make more joyful. As it was monsoon season, the greenery all around made the hill too gorgeous. After 15 minutes of hike, we reached the base of the very wide rocky boulder. This is the main challenger for anyone to hike to proceed further. Yashas, Rakesh and Darshan climbed the wider sloppy boulder like monkey. I tried twice and I couldn’t as there was no support to use and climb. I have decided to stop there only. Rakesh at the top tried to see other possible routes but in vain. He encouraged me to try again.
Darshan descended again. He pushed me from the bottom providing support and Rakesh extended his support from the top to gradually crawl on the wider rock to reach the top. This is bit risky. I wondered why I missed to bring the rope. After struggle, I have managed to negotiate and crawl to reach the top.
From there another 15 minutes easy ascent took us to the base of the Seelu kallu. The 6 rocky boulders standing in row welcomed us. It’s like an entrance door, to pass through, to reach the main Seelu kallu.
After passing through these boulders, the full view of Seelu kallu is perceptible.
It’s really a pleasing and unique. With a height of ~100 feet, the large rocky boulder attracts anyone. The shape of the rock is different from each angel.
There are so many boulders around. The Seelu Kallu looks different in each angle. The cold breeze on top of the hill amused me. The surrounding view from the hilltop is simply superb.
I wanted to spend some more time, but it was started raining. Darshan insisted everyone to return back.
Again, the main challenger was descending the wider boulder. This time, Yashas helped me to gradually crawl down and reach the bottom. Once we negotiated the wider boulder, the rest of the descend was easier.
Once reached the base, we have met few shepherds who informed that there are so many wild animals in the vicinity. I have also learnt from them that there exists another way to reach the hilltop which is easier. Seek locals help before anyone venture this hillock.
